UPCOMING EVENTS:

November 5, 2018 MGCC-FL Monthly Dinner. POC is Ric and Nancy

Garwood. Weíve chosen the Rising Tide (http://risingtidetap.com/) in Port

Canaveral, 523 Glen Cheek Drive, Port Canaveral, FL 321-576-0676. It is on the

road that runs in front of the Exploration Tower. If people have time and have not

been to the tower it is worth going early and checking it out. Dinner will be at

6:00. Please email Nancy to RSVP at nancygarwood@gmail.com or call 301-

332-7121 and leave a name, # coming and a phone #. While this restaurant is on

the small lake around the Exploration Tower and not where all the other restaurants

are, we chose this one because the food and service are great! It is fairly new so

most probably have not gone to it yet. The parking is along the front/side/back or

across the street in the grass lot or a paved lot. See you there!

November 17, 2018 Central FL Animal Reserve St. Cloud. Joyce Wuensch will

be planning this event for the club. We have set up the time and date for the MG

club to tour the Central Florida Animal Reserve: Saturday, November 17 at 12:00

noon. The cost is $22.50 per person which reflects a 10% discount. Visit the

CFLAR website for information on the Reserve. (http://www.cflar.org). The trip

plan is to meet at the Cumberland Farms located at US 192 and John Rhodes

Boulevard, Melbourne, at 10:45 leaving no later than 11:15 AM. Reservation is

for noon. After the tour, lunch will be in Holopaw Junction at a rustic diner,

Miss Vickiís Home Cookiní. Call (321-636-1216) or email (lwuensch@cfl.rr.com)

for more information and to RSVP!

December 8, 2018 Christmas at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. Norman

Ridgely is coordinating this event. The plan is that the north group will gather

at the Cumberland Farms Store at John Rhodes and US 192 at 8:00 AM for an

08:15 AM departure. You will travel west on 192 to Holopaw, then south to

Yeehaw Junction. That is about 57 miles, an hour or so. The south group will

gather at Wawa on SR 60, just east of I-95 at 0830, and depart at 0845. That leg

to Yeehaw is 26 miles. Hopefully, both groups will arrive in Yeehaw Junction at

the same time. In the past, we were able to use the rest rooms at the Desert Inn, but

it is now closed (?) so my advice is to go to one of the convenience stores just east

of the traffic signal by the Desert Inn for relief &/or coffee etc. From Yeehaw to

Bok is about 48 miles, half is one lane east, one west with three passing lane

sections; the last half is four lanes with a median. Figure an hour or so. Our

ETA should be around 1030/1100. Once on the grounds, everyone is on their own,

no guided tour. For those who need transport at BOK, they rent chairs and scooters.

You might be able to reserve one in advance so call them. And there is a shuttle

service to the Tower and to Pinewood. This is not a level ground park. It is the

highest point on peninsular Florida, 298 feet above sea level, called Iron Mountain.

But most all the paths are paved so the walking is easy. So, put 12-8-18 on

your calendar! PLEASE call or email me so I can keep track as to those

coming. You can still come without your LBC. The group discounted price is

$19 for all or $12 for gardens only. Lunch will be at the Blue Palmetto Cafť located

by the visitorís center. For Bok Tower Gardens information please click on
